The European Union has a well-established and robust consumer product safety framework, based on sector-specific legislation and the General Product Safety Directive as well as on voluntary technical standards for products. It is important that all actors in the supply chain are aware of this framework as it helps to ensure they produce and sell only safe products on the EU market.
